Workshops for 2020
It's the first month of the year, which means it's time to start planning my workshop schedule for 2020. This year, I'm adding a couple of new workshops to my arsenal. My private plein air workshops (in oil and pastel) are still open for those wanting to learn. Plein air tutorials are still available for beginners. Two new outdoor workshops I am adding will be Design and Perspective and Charcoal en Plein Air.
DESIGN AND PERSPECTIVE
This special outdoor painting workshop will focus on design (choosing, cropping subject matter) and perspective (values, creating depth). Regardless the medium or style you paint in, this workshop should give you insight on how to improve and create stronger paintings---en plein air and in the studio. Often artists will include linear perspective, but don't include aerial perspective in their work---which is what helps set the mood of a painting. Adding just a little bit can make a BIG difference. This will be a good way to build confidence and skills in mastering depth. Create landscape paintings that look and feel like you can walk right into them.

CHARCOAL EN PLEIN AIRYou read that right. Take those value study skills to a NEW level with this fun and intriguing workshop. Wet under paintings, light values, dark values, and everything in between. Learn to create beautiful landscape work in black and white. This is a great workshop for pastelists and those who like to draw. Another great aerial perspective enhancement. Two days will be offered, attendees may choose one day or attend both.

My private workshops; Pastel en Plein Air, and Outdoors en Oil, are still open to anyone wanting to learn, on demand. My 1-day workshop, A-Day en Plein Air, will also be scheduled for this year, possibly spring.
Plein Air Tutorials - I offer outdoor painting tutorials in St. Joseph, MO for those interested in taking up painting as a hobby. These are 1-day (2-3 hour) tutorials on plein air painting with pastels---for beginners. All supplies will be provided.
