Upcoming Events

These past couple of months have been a little busy on the art side of my life, not only with creating artwork in the studio, but creating a new art group. I and three other artists (Greg Summers, Jeff Sparks, and Rachel Mindrup) have been working weekly during our spare times in forming a new society of artists, the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society (MVIS). This organization is formed to unify, network, and communicate with other like minded artists throughout the Missouri River Valley who work in impressionism and to share the experiences through group plein air paint events and exhibitions. With so many local art organizations throughout the communities, we have found that none offer the opportunities that we seek. With the array of talents that other organizations claim to support, many place emphasis on non-objective art and the modern abstracts---leaving those who show solid foundations in drawing, modeling, composition and perspective, found in representational art, on a back burner or ignoring them entirely. The Missouri Valley Impressionist Society plans to launch it's website by the beginning of January 2012. The organization is not limited to plein air painters, studio impressionists are welcomed as well.

========================================

It's time again, for the upcoming annual membership exhibit at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art. The event will be in its 38th year this coming January. This will be my 5th year participating. Last January I won "Best of Show." Two pieces of mine will be showcased among a variety of others from other artists. As always, the museum does a top notch job in hosting the event. It is one of my most favorable exhibits, something I look forward to each year.
