Work in Progress

One of the things I enjoy about painting scenes from Krug Park (St. Joseph, MO), are the dramatic effects of light and shadows.  The park is filled with trees, and many of these trees are spaced out allowing natural light to peek through giving one the ability to study light and shadow throughout any sunny day.  Most places an artist would have to paint during early morning (sunrise) or late afternoon (sunset) to capture dramatic light and shadows, especially when painting scenic land and cityscapes.  Dramatic light helps create stronger paintings so they don't appear flat.  Shadows help give the painting life.
