Stems Plein Air 2018
Hey! Hey! It's another year of Stems Plein Air! For those not familiar with it, Stems is an annual outdoor painting competition that goes on in Overland Park, KS. Artists near and far come out to paint in this 2-week long event---from beginners to professional artists. This plein air competition is the oldest in the Kansas City metro and one of the largest.
Traditionally, it began with painting the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, but over the years they've expanded their boundaries giving artists more options. This year, you were able to paint anywhere in Overland Park, KS. But I stuck with just painting in the arboretum.
Stems is a fundraising event for The Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park.
Upcoming events include:
- Stems Plein Air Art Fair---June 3 @ the Arboretum art fair artists will set up tents and sell paintings to park visitors from 11am - 5pm.
- Art at the Center Feature Show---June 15 - July @ Tomahawk Ridge Community Center a selection of paintings will be featured for sale in a special show in community center's gallery space.
- Stems: A Garden Soiree Event---June 24 @ the Arboretum a select group of paintings will be for sale in the Stems Plein Air tent at the Soiree event 7 - 11pm. This is a ticketed event for Stems patrons.
