July 3rd - First Friday
Last night was a good night at the KC Crossroads Art District. There was a pretty good crowd throughout the neighborhood. The Hilliard Gallery put on a good show displaying quite of few artists interpretations, including my own, of the American Landscape for the 4th of July holiday. Several of the artists who participated in the show are from across the nation.
We visited quite a few of the other art galleries that were open for the First Friday event, as well as some open studios. It seems there aren't as many realists nor impressionists who show their work in the galleries, maybe just a handful. Most of the work that I've seen fall under abstract, surrealism, and expressionism, or other---but that is what makes them very interesting to look at. With some galleries we were surprised, it seemed as though they had less art than last year. Overall, we had a good time.
