"Loose Reflections"

"Loose Reflections," a common scene when visiting Loose Park in Kansas City. Ducks and geese are no strangers to the area. Unlike the hidden treasures the Municipal Rose Garden contains all nestled under trees and behind shrubbery, this scenery is fairly easy to find. The main focus in this piece is the reflections in the water. Bold lines indicate choppy water, smaller lines indicate more calm. Blue and white are used as the reflection of the blue sky above (determined by the angle of the water waves). White is also used to reflect the water spurting from the fountain. Green is the reflection of the foilage in the trees and bushes. Brown reflects from the structure of the tree. Yellow is used as the reflection from the sunlight touching the leaves. Violet indicates shade. The mallard ducks help accent the foreground, giving it more life, and a sense of movement as they swim across the scene disturbing the water with calm waves. With many broken colors, it creates a visual place to relax.
