"12th and Sylvanie St."
"12th and Sylvanie St." 9x12 oil on canvas 2014 $350 unframed/$400 after framing |
The St. Joseph Allied Art Council's annual Beer Walk for the Arts was a success this year. Tickets sold out and the weather permitted artists to paint en plein air with the MVIS. With so many Victorian homes and mansions in this historic neighborhood, Museum Hill, I decided to interpret a scene from the grounds of the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion. This plein air painting depicts a mansion across the street, nestled on the corner of 12th St. and Sylvanie St. Nearly three hours were spent on this small piece, more than I had planned. But it worked out well as I consider it one of my best plein air work.
