"Steeples on N 7th, St. Joseph"
I kicked off this years plein air painting in St. Joseph with an MVIS paint out during First Saturday events downtown last weekend. An average turn out of eight artists from Kansas City and St. Joseph participated. The weather was perfect for an outdoor event. Artists couldn't ask for a better day. If you missed it, that's okay. Another one is planned for April 25th in Museum Hill Historic Neighborhood, St. Joseph, MO.
The morning was quiet downtown, not too much activity. Occasional bystanders came and went. While First Saturdays Downtown St. Joseph events are organized throughout the day, crowds don't usually come out until later, into the evening hours. But that's okay, it was Easter weekend and artists sometimes prefer quiet as their concentration is on interpreting the scenes in front of them and finishing a painting in a timely manner.
Always glad to see my KC artist friends come up to paint, but getting the local St. Joe artists out of their studios is a plus. Exhibiting and painting together, that's what the MVIS is about. I made a nice little painting out of it, and some new friends as well. This is "Steeples on N 7th, St. Joseph."
