"Down Felix St."
"Down Felix St." 18x24 oil on canvas 2014 $850 unframed/$1000 after framing |
Felix Street, St. Joseph, MO---this street has had a history of its own. A saddened story really, if anyone had written it. What once was a destination for business and commerce with some high end stores became nothing more than a place to bar hop these past few decades. But the architecture is indeed rich, and the potential is still there as this area has recently gained much needed attention. The tall building is the Corby Building, or the Corby-Forsee Building. Built in 1909 during an era when skyscrapers were dominating downtown's, this was the first skyscraper and the last skyscraper built in St. Joseph. Originally to be used as a high class office building, it is now a senior living facility, "Fountains at Corby Place."
