AKMA 41st Annual Membership Exhibition

Seventy-six artists participated in this year's Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art Annual Membership Exhibition, with a grand total of 146 artworks on display.  Sixteen cities in four states represented (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas).

In its 41st year, the museum show is one our finest events here in St. Joe and one I really enjoy.  To share the experience, I always encourage other artists to participate and invite non-artisans to visit.  Though, there are never any cash prizes - it manages to attract a good number of artists near and far, giving them a chance to showcase their work in a museum setting.  Artwork of all skill levels and styles hang categorized by media on the walls of the museums downstairs gallery space while visitors view the collection of this year's entries.  It has really turned into a competitive event with a lot of impressive work.  The works are judged and awards are given in each category (oil/acrylic, drawing, watercolor, etc.).  I may not have won anything this year, that's okay---it's part of the art game.  I am glad to have participated with my fellow artist friends and proud to be a member of such a fine art museum with so much support.

The exhibit will be on display until February 22nd.  Show your appreciation for fine art, make a trip out to the museum to see the exhibition.
