Exhibit Proposal: Celebrate KC Impressionism

Periodically group exhibitions are held throughout the Kansas City metro. Skimming through the Call for Artists, they appear to be based on common themes, subject matter, even art done in certain mediums. What they do not call for, is a group of work that represents the ongoing celebration of a particular style or art movement. Don't get me wrong, it is interesting to view a variety of interpretations of a certain subject or theme, or see how the different artists apply a particular medium. I am surprised there has not been any exhibits showcasing the popular ongoing styles; Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, and the more Abstracts.

As an artist who works in modern Impressionism, I am proposing this idea to those who may have interest in it, fellow local Kansas City artists and the gallery owners. A group show, "The Exhibition of the Impressionists: Kansas City," titled after art critic Louis Leroy's name for the first exhibition of the Impressionists of France in 1874. Adding "Kansas City" at the end of it to differentiate. An exhibit showcasing a variety of representational interpretations by KC area artists in the style of modern Impressionism not limited to just work en plein air, but studio work as well. We could be looking at a possible annual event. Depending on how many interests from artists, an adequate space will need to be found where each artist can exhibit 4 to 8 pieces. If there is only a handful of us willing to take part, then we can exhibit more.
