This next piece I'm exploring in different technique. The method I am using for this interpretation is called "feathering." Feathering is way of breaking color. The pastel is applied in vertical lines allowing other colors to show in between. As mentioned in a previous blog post, the intention of broken color is to blend the colors, layed side-by-side, in the eyes of the viewer. Broken color is only one characteristic used by impressionists.
